Meaning of Depression

Before the 20th century if you have said that "I am depressed ", they would have been treated like you an alien. Now a days this topic is most discussed and dangerous challenge for the society and people. It is taking the front seat in human life and driving him for death !!!

Before we start with our discussion , we should know the definition given by medical science expert. Depression is the constant feeling of sadness and loss of interest, which stops you doing your normal activities or a group of conditions associated with the elevation or lowering of person's mood.

In laymen language , you are not interested in anything and sadness or dullness is overriding your mind. You are stuck in a particular disturbing matter and you have stopped fueling your mind. You are lost in your own world instead of living in present world. A particular bad thing happened in your life and you are not able to come out from it.

1. Abuse

    It can be physical, sexual or emotional. When you are not enough strong to handle physical or emotional abuse it can create a long lasting negative impact on you. Sexual abuse is something which is  beyond your control and requires at most care and medical attention.

Social media abuses are also a cause for depression. Almost all the human beings are connected to one or the other social media platforms. If anything adverse happens to you, it will be very difficult to continue in that platform and maintaining the good social image. Loosing the social image is a fear and can cause to depression.

2. Conflict

If your parents has raised you in a environment where you never faced conflicts or quarrel in your life. Then you may not be able to handle it all of a sudden when you grown up. You will face conflicts and quarrel at all the stages of life, where ever you go. 

You will loose your mind in thinking What I have done wrong ? Whether I am wrong ? Whether I have to apologize for it?. But if you are raised in rough environment then you will depress the person in front of you, instead of you !!

3.Death or Connection Loss

It is common for every one to feel the sadness on death of the person or any pets. But if you are not coming out from it then you become abnormal. Your mind is not ready to accept the loss of that person. It is not accepting the reality. You can also become depressed if you have to live without your family or friends for a longer period of time may be due to job posting or education.

The sudden shock may put our brain into standby mode and it will not move forward. Our mind will play the same event for repeated number of times like a damaged tape recorder playing the same song again and again.

4. Financial Loss, Reputation loss

You are consistently failing and loosing your money or not able to earn money can also depress you. When the family or loved one also withdraw their support from you, then the lonely feeling coupled with fear of future can easily put you in a bad position. 

Anybody has made a derogatory remarks on you or filed a case on you for any reason, then there is a chance for depression. Because humans are social animals and they are very much afraid of their image in society.

5. Failing in exams

Now a days it is increasing day by day. Every parent want their child to be a rank holder. It will create a high pressure in students mind. If they fails in exam, they thinks that they are useless. If parents don't give them confidence they will definitely become depressed and takes a wrong decision.

There are many other abnormal reasons such as drugs consumption, alcohol consumption, seeing an accident on the road, fear of exams, etc.

  1. Not eating or eating too much or eating little bit.
  2. No energy. Not showing energy while working or talking with friends or with family.
  3. Feeling guilty above the normal level.
  4. Not completing the daily tasks effectively.
  5. Not interested in the thing in which they used to enjoy.
  6. Increased anxiety/ panic
  7. Not able to concentrate.
  8. Doing some horrible things such cutting hands, fingers etc
  9. Behaving like hopeless.
  10. Sleep problems. Oversleeping or not at all sleeping.

1. Try to develop a good friend cycle 

    Friends who helps you in difficult time rather then uses you as a credit card. If you have such good friends , then definitely they are your assets. They will try to motivate you and helps you to change your mood.

    Build a strong and good friend cycle in physical world and not only in social media. Social media friends can only talk with you but they can't give you the personal visits. If you have a good friend cycle then they are definitely your assets.

      When the depression controls our mind, we feel ashamed or guilty or lonely ness or insecurity. If there are some people to help us in this situation, we can come out from that feelings easily.

2. Meditation & other exercises

   Regularly following Yoga, exercise will help you to keep your mind active and helps you to live in present. It will also helps you to control your anxiety and anger to the great extent.
    
    Jogging , cycling, swimming or any other similar type of activities in which you feel comfortable should be followed regularly. This exercises can refresh your brain and gives you a feel of joy and happiness.

3. Every loss have an opportunity to learn

   Think positively that the loss of money or reputation will also give you an opportunity to learn the business or knowledge of non loyal persons. Think that you will not be in a loss forever. It is temporary and the god is testing you. Believe that after the night day light is waiting for you.

   Being positive during negative times makes a person successful.
Every one in the world has there own problems and difficulties. How you react to that situation makes a person to suffer from depression or to achieve the success in life.

   Life is dynamic and not a static. Have a belief that everything will change gradually in your favour. The loss you have suffered will not remain constant forever. 

4. Listen the music and play sports or try to involve in the work in which you are interested.

    Music is the magic, which can turn your mind into positivity, activeness and joyfulness. Listen the music in which you have interest. If you like to play sports, then it is the best thing you can do for your body. Because sports is a mixture of mind and physical activity. It will reduce your stress and you will become more active.
You can read good books, attend the motivational seminars, if believe the god then visit the temple, church, masjid or any of your religious place.

     Music is actually used for many type of psychological problems to cure it. Music can give you a sense of calmness and joy.

5. Consult the Specialists (Doctors)

   It should be your first step. Whenever you feel that you are depressed of any act or thing, immediately you should consult a specialist. Please don't hesitate to meet psychiatrist. By consulting them you will not be labeled as mad. Remedy for your problem may be very easily given by them.

If you don't take the doctors help at early stage, then it is very difficult for them to diagnose you. Take the medical advice as early as possible.

6. Good Environment / Nature

   Nature has powerful impact on our mind. If you see a beautiful place your mind feels very calm and stress free. Try to live in good environment or visit such places for a number of days.
  
   If you have the pets then please spend the time with them. Beautiful scenes will make you, forget any type of accidents which are happened with you. You will gradually start moving forward in your life with the nature.

7. Avoid living alone

  Empty mind is hotspot the for negative thought. There is a saying " empty mind is devil's workshop". So don't remain idle at all the times. Try to live with parents or friends or relatives. You will always be engaged so that there is less time for negative thinking. You can also engage in NPO, NGO, Education institutes. 

   Living alone in depression is like 'rubbing salt on wound'. Before it becomes too late, join the family or friends. It creates a sense of security in your mind and increases your willingness to recover from depression very fastly.


8. Sleeping, Healthy food

   Please try to take good amount of sleep. Sleeping will add freshness to your mind and body. Having food on time and keeping your health positively is also very important. If fall sick physically also then it will very difficult to recover because you have given up both your mind and body.
  
     Keeping our body healthy during this time is very important. Because at this time out mental strength will be at ground level. So fighting spirit with any other disease will be very low. Don't make yourself a disease box. Have the good food and develop a healthy habits during this time.
